Driving along the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina in the summer is a treat. Especially during golden hour, when the hot day starts turning into a cool mountain night.
The entire parkway is exploding with pink, covered in wild blooming rhododendrons. It’s a magical sight. Hard to believe it’s real!
The locals drive up to the overlooks to watch the sunset and enjoy the peace and quiet of the mountains.
In this painting, I aimed to capture this feeling. What the month of June looks like in up here. What it feels like to witness the magical colors of the sunset on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The bright, saturated pink splatters of flowers all across the hillside.
It makes you fall in love with Western North Carolina summers.
At least, it made me fall in love.
