A river weaves through Pisgah National Forest, past rhododendron shrubs, trees, and the dense growth of the forest floor. This is a glimpse into Appalachian autumn, with its range of colors and quiet, peaceful atmosphere. When I stood here, watching the water flowing gently away, I thought about the flow of time. How fall is such a transient period, how the leaves shift their hue daily, and how easy it is to miss these moments when we don’t take the time to be present with them.
