Crimson and burgundy and coral and mahogany are the leaves on the shrubs and trees lining the mountain path. It’s peak fall foliage season in the higher elevations. The air is crisp and the sun bright. Those who venture up here to the scarlet fields at the right time in early October are rewarded with the brightest colors of the year.

There’s a place in the Blue Ridge Mountains that turns every shade of scarlet in fall. It’s one of the first to see peak fall colors.

If you’ve been to Graveyard Fields in early October, you’ve seen this view.

It’s a special spot for WNC locals. Boardwalks, waterfalls, wild blueberries, gorgeous views. Amazing year round, but especially spectacular in fall.
