Waterrock Knob, a trail in the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina, is one of my favorite hikes on a sunny day. This painting is based on a view I saw hiking that trail, looking into the valley below. A mixed media piece, I combined gouache, ink, and colored pencil for a textured look and the feel of the variety of vegetation in these mountains.
