There’s a place in the Blue Ridge Mountains that turns every shade of scarlet in fall. It’s one of the first to see peak fall colors.
If you’ve been to Graveyard Fields in early October, you’ve seen this view.
It’s a special spot for WNC locals. Boardwalks, waterfalls, wild blueberries, gorgeous views. Amazing year round, but especially spectacular in fall.
In this painting, I wanted to convey the drama of this place: the vibrant colors, color combinations, bright light and intense shadows. Contrary to its name, Graveyard Fields is a place of joy, cherished by many who call WNC home.
